Southmedia is all about community. We're always keen that our web sites contribute to the web in a positive way, but our sense of community doesn't stop there. We're passionate about two things: technology and creativity, and we do our best to provide the local area (Southmead) with input for both of those. Here's how...

Technology

Our offices are based at The Greenway Centre which is a local community centre. We provide IT consultancy and support for them for a day a week, and we are always looking to bring about improvements to the way their IT equipment works. So far we have successfully installed new servers and built an IT suite in the building in partnership with them.

We maintain and are in the process of developing various community web sites, including a complete rebuild of Southmead Community Web Site and the web site for the local paper, The Mead - which we are also involved in restructuring so that it can survive in the current economic climate.

In the future we are hoping to find ways in which we can connect with people through technology - with more and more people using the internet on their mobile phones, Southmedia will be looking at how we can use this to connect people back in with their geographical community, and how we can get people into expressing their creative sides...

Creativity

At Southmedia, we're passionate about being creative. We love making things. We'll make web sites for a living but in our spare time you can find us doing all sorts from building lego models through to playing bass guitar and creative writing.

We believe that creativity is the answer to the lack of aspiration in young people today. If they knew they could express themselves creatively, they would believe they can always achieve great things. So that's what we're really about. What that looks like, we're not sure. We're in the process of putting some ideas together at the moment. If you've got any, or this sort of thing interests you, please get in touch!

At some point in the future we will be looking to hire people - both experienced and inexperienced, and especially people who share a passion for Southmead and for having a positive impact in their communities. We'll keep you posted.
